Pros of Planning Ahead 

Planning can make a person nervous. So many things to think about. So many things could happen that could keep you from successfully achieving your goals. When planning an event, planning ahead is crucial for the most ideal circumstances. You have first choice at the location and timing and date of your event. You have plenty of time to decide on how you wish for your event to look, what is your theme, style, colors. You then can work on finding the needed decorations, food you would like to serve, entertainment you would like to add. Invitations can go out and your desired guests can put your event on their calendars. You can make a timeline with reminders for decisions to make and balances to be paid. You can rest knowing you have not put it all off until the last minute. You can avoid stressing yourself out.  

Cons of Planning Ahead 

There are people who like to procrastinate or fly by the seat of their pants. This can be a bad habit or an adrenaline rush for some. Regarding planning an event, this can find you settling for second or third choices when it comes to the date, where you have your party, and all the other things that will make up your event. Your guests may not be able to attend because other commitments were made. So, you are still stuck celebrating the occasion with whatever you can find at late notice and paying more for things just to get them in time with a much smaller guest list. 

The only CON I can think of is the risk of changing your mind a hundred times and adding on more things which adds on more expenses because you overthink your event. This usually applies to anxious / excited brides to be. 

This is where I recommend using an event planner to help keep you on track. Share your vision, your desired date, your budget, and work on a timeline to hold you accountable. If you can afford it, let the planner set up, clean up afterwards, and be there on the day of the event to see that everything looks good and flows well. You will thank me. You would much rather spend the extra time getting yourself ready, feeling relaxed and able to enjoy the guests you invited. If you share your wishes and discuss things along the way, you will be confident that things have been carefully thought out and your planner will know your wishes and you can trust them to take care of the details so you may enjoy the event. You will even be grateful to be able to go to bed without cleaning up a big mess after your guests have gone home.
